يبدأ الكتاب بمقدمة تحمل بين عباراتها البسيطة موقفاً لطفلين لم يلتزما بقواعد المرور والسلامة ولم يربطا حزام الأمان وهما داخل السيارة فكانت العواقب-للأسف-وخيمة.
ويحتوي الكتاب على توصيف لأحوال المشاة في الشارع وأنواع السيارات والدراجات ووسائل النقل الأخرى، كما يحتوي على آداب المشي على الرصيف وعبور الشارع والخطوات العملية لعبور الطريق، وكذلك تعريف بالإشارات الضوئية للسيارات والمشاة، كما حرص الكتاب على رسم صورة رجل المرور ودوره في تنظيم ومساعدة الناس.
ويحذر الكتاب من عدد من السلوكيات والتصرفات الخاطئة أثناء المشي في الشارع أو قطع الطريق، وأثناء ركوب السيارة أو الباص (حافلة المدرسة)، كما يضم عدداً من التمارين المسلية والصور المعبرة التي يطلب من الطفل التعليق عليها بجملة واحدة.
هذا الكتاب يقدم قواعد المرور التي يحتاجها الطفل في حياته اليومية مستخدماً الفكرة المميزة والصورة الرائعة، كما يحمل رسالة للجميع تقول أننا نفقد يومياً مئات الأطفال والآباء والأمهات بسبب حوادث مرورية ناتجة عن جهلنا بأبسط قواعد السلامة والتصرف الصحيح في الشارع أو السيارة، ومن هنا جاء هذا الكتاب.
