"عقرون 94" شهادة من زمن الحرب ورصد للإنقسامات الناجمة عن الانفصال بين البلاد والعباد في شمال اليمن وجنوبه تغطي المشهد السياسي في تسعينيات القرن العشرين وتعيد طرح أسئلة جريئة عن مآلات الصراع الدائر بين أطراف النزاع، إلى درجة صار فيها العنف الثوري يأكل أبناءه، وما اختيار الروائي اسم عقرون بطلاً لروايته إلا حالة من حالات استعادة ذاكرة المكان وبعثها حيّة من جديد، فتكون بذلك الرواية استنطاقاً جمالياً صافياً للأشياء التي توجد منفردةٍ خارجة عن دائرة الحرب وبمعزلٍ عن جنونها الحسيِّ فالروائي هنا يقف كحمامة بيضاءَ ويطلُّ على المشهد الكليِّ، ويحوّله عبر تقنيات السجال الأيديولوجي والوقفات التأملية الأشبه بصرخات احتجاج إلى حادثٍ أدبي متحرك مليئ بأصوات الناس، أناسٌ ضيعوا ماضيهم، ولم يستطيعوا بناء حاضرهم.
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ:
"... لم أكن أنا الوحيد الذي طُرد من مكتب الفندم علي فقد سبقني الكثير. فنحن لا وطن لنا بعد حرب 94. لم يقل لي أحد من قبل يا صومالي وأنا الحضرمي (أصل وفصل) إلا بعد الوحدة. أتذكّر عبارة والد صديقي أيوب وهو يقول أثناء الحرب بأن شنبات الوحدة قد سقطت ولم أستوعب هذه الكلمات إلا الآن.
لن أكون أنا الأول ولا الأخير المنكسر في هذا الوطن. أنا واحد من المنكسرين وواحد من الباحثين عن وطن داخل أوطان وعن وجه داخل وجوه كثيرة تجعلك في هذه الدوامة الجديدة.
اسمي الفريد عقرون وهو الاسم الذي يميزني عن بقية الناس فهو ينتمي إلى أشهر وادي في دوعن. وسيرتي ستعرفها أجيال بعد أجيال، وستعرف عقرون الأرض والإنسان. فالإنسان يعيد نفسه كالتاريخ وأنا اليوم أعيد نفسي بروح أخرى عاشت مراحل عدة في الحياة. شاهداً على ألمي وألم الآخرين وانكسارهم وهروبهم من الخوف والمصير المجهول في وطن اسمه اليمن الموحد...".
