درس وحلل آراء الباحث والنحوي ابن طولون في شرحه على ألفية ابن مالك ، والتي عضد فيها رأيه، بأدلة من القرآن الكريم بالدرجة الأساس.
ثم على الكثير من الشواهد الشعرية وتحرى مايندرج منها تحت القواعد والأصول ، وكانت أغلب شواهده من عصور الاستشهاد ، واعتمد كلام العرب وأمثالهم، واحتكم إليها في قبول الآراء النحوية وردها، لكنه لم يقصرها على مذهب نحوي بعينه.
اهتم ابن طولون في مذهبه النحوي درس وحلل آراء الباحث والنحوي ابن طولون في شرحه على ألفية ابن مالك ، والتي عضد فيها رأيه، بأدلة من القرآن الكريم بالدرجة الأساس.

اهتم ابن طولون في مذهبه النحوي بالمسائل الخلافية بين النحاة ، ووقف عندها كثيرا وفصلها ، ثم بين أقربها إلى الصحة فرجحه ، ورد ماعداه وخالفه، ونحن نعتقد أنه كان بارعا في ذلك واستطاع أن يقدم الجديد في علم النحو مستحدما المصطلحات البصرية غالبا ، والمصطلحات الكوفية أحيانا.
