في مجموعته القصصية "صخب يضيء" يبدو القاص خالد السَعن، وكأنه يتناول العلاقة الجدلية بين الحياة والكاتب، وهذه العلاقة، على جدليتها، فإن تأثير القطب الأول "الحياة" هو الأقوى، فتعدد مظاهر الحياة وصنوف البشر وطرائق عيشهم مادة دسمة ينهل منها السَعن، ليضيء من خلالها على بيئات محلية آخذة في التحول، فحشد عبر نصوصه كماً هائلاً من التقاليد والمعتقدات والطقوس الشعبية في لغة روائية تخلو من الإنشائية في السرد وتتميز باشتغالات القاص الممزوجة ما بين التخيل وإعادة تدوير التقاطات من الواقع اليومي المعاش، في أسلوب ينحو فيه، صوب "التجريب" في الصياغة السردية بحثاً عن الذات في اشتباكها بمحيطها. هكذا تفهم نصوص "صخب يضيء" بالنسبة للقارئ العادي ، أما خالد السَعن فيقول عنها: "إنها تعد مجموعة أسئلة بين العقل والعقل الباطن، قريبة الغرائبية، ومتجاوزة نوعاً ما، وأنها تتجاوز مع تقنيات الرمزية الحرة الجديدة في أدب القصة، وتلمس الوجد بشيء غير قليل".
