قصائدي شمس بلادي وغد الأطفال، ورعشة الزلازل، لن نُشترى بذهب العالم، لن تباع، لن تنال... قصائدي تجوب في أعتاب بغداد، عني تسأل الأحباب يا سامعين الصوت، يا منتحلي الأسباب، لا تتركوا حروفها في الباب، واقفة يشتمها البواب، وينزع الإكليل عن جبينها ويترك الكلاب تحوم حول دمها المنساب... ليغرق العراق بالدم، إن حبنا استفاق، ليغرق العراق... ليغرق العراق".
العراق المذبوح بحدّ آلامه وبنصل عذاباته من الوريد إلى الوريد ومعاني البياتي المجروحة بأنات غربته من الكلمة إلى القصيد، يتلاقيا، يتفاعلا، في قلب الشاعر الممنوح على دروب الرحيل تأشيرة العذاب، فالوطن المقهور عذاب، والمواطن المبعد عذاب والبياتي القابع بعيداً عن مؤئل الروح كتلة عذابات، تنصهر في لحظات الغياب، في لحظات الرجوع الروحي، وفي لحظات الانبعاث معاني عباراتها ألم، وإيقاعاتها أناشيد جريحة على دروب الأمل المنتظر.
