تجري أحداث هذه المغامرة، التي قام بها إياد بن السندباد، بين البصرة في العراق، وقليقوط في الهند، وسرن ديب (سري لانكا) وملقة ماليزيا، ليصل به الترحال إلى بلاد واق الواق (ساحل وايكيكي) في جنوب جزيرة أواهو Oahu إحدى جزر هاواي. وهذه المغامرة تحكي قصة فتىً عربي نشأ في مدينة البصرة، التي كانت من أهم موانئ العالم الإسلامي، وتعلم في مدارسها، ولعب في ملاعبها مع أقرانه، فامتطى صهوات الجياد، وسبح في مياه دجلة والفرات، وغاص في مياه الخليج العربي كما يغوص صيادو اللؤلؤ، ورمى بالقوس والنشاب. وحفلت خزانته بكل طريف من تحف ذلك العصر الذهبي، وركب إياد البحر ليبدأ رحلة البحث عن أبيه السندباد، الذي انقطعت أخباره، فرمت به الأقدار غلى جزيرة مجهولة حتى انتهى به الترحال إلى شاطئ وايكيكي أو بلاد واق الواق. وقد تعرض أثناء ذلك إلى أهوال ومشاق، واجهها بما توافر له من علوم ومبتكرات توصل إليها العلماء العرب، فاستخدم البوصلة والأسطرلاب لتحديد معال الملاحية، وعندما هاجم القراصنة سفينته استخدم المجانيق لصدهم، وفي معاملاته المالية كان يستخدم الصكوك عند اللزوم.
