إذا كان "أبعد من المنبر" جزءاً واحداً في صيغته الأولى، وصار جزءين في صيغته الثانية، فليست الزيادة غايته ولا ميزته، إنما المراد الكامن وراء جمع أوراقه هو التأكيد على ثبات خط واحد من خطوط التأليف ينتصر للغة الضاد، وينحاز إلى ثقافة الانفتاح، ويفتح خزائن العقل دونما جفاف، وألوح الصدر دونما إسفاف... ويطلق نبرة خاصة، وبعض الجديد في المواقف ومعها الصياغات... وإلا فلماذا هو؟ وهل من حقنا أن نبذل له شطرات من الزمن كان الأولى بها أن توظف في ميادينها النافعة؟
ولقد أتيت في هذه الحلة الجديدة للكتاب وأمام واقعة تمثلت في فصول كثيرة أضيفت إليه، ألا يكون معيار التسلسل التاريخي أساساً معتمداً في الترتيب، وأن أجعل الفصول كلها، سابقها ولاحقها، مجتمعة في عنوانين اثنين، أولهما "مشاركات في أيام الكلمة" وثانيهما "محاضرات مقدمات ومداخلات" تمييزاً للواحد عن الآخر في نوع الحدث والحافز الفكري، لا في الطريقة التي أحيتها روح واحدة كما سبق البيان، ورأيت كذلك ألا أوسع المدخل الثاني فألقي الضوء على علامات ومخابئ ودقائق لافتة في المقالات المضافة، على غرار ما فعلت في المدخل الأول إذ يكفي القارئ ما فعلته آنذاك.
