في مجموعته الشعرية هذه، يبني الدكتور علي عجمي عالمه الشعري على ثيمة الجسد، ليصبح الجسد نصاً آخر داخل النص، وليتحول الجسد عند شاعرنا إلى موضوع جمالي ورؤية قيمية توحد بين الذات والآخر، أفرد فيها الشاعر للجانب الروحي حيزاً واسعاً وذلك عن طريق الإنفعالات والمشاعر المختلفة، وهذا الحضور (الروحي) هو الذي أراد من ورائه الشاعر منح الميزة الجمالية للنص وقيمته البنائية التي تكشف بلا شك عن مهارة عالية لأداء الشاعر وللعمل الفني في صورته النهائية.
من عوالم القصيدة المعنونة بـ "هذا عُرسنا الكَونيّ" نقرأ:
" ... ذلك العطر/ المسربلُ بالرياحين البديعة/ طابعاً/ من بين ثغرك/ وانثناءات الجسد/ لا نورَ/ يقذفه الفضاء الرحبُ/ فوق الكون/ إلا ذلك النور المقدسُ/ إذ يباشر رحلة التبشير/ بالفرح المؤجج/ بانبلاجات الصباحات الجميلة/ تطلق ما تناثر من أعنتها/ فتحرك الجلمود/ (...)/ تُبلسم/ ما تخلفَ/ من جراحات بعيدة (...)".
قدم لمجموعة "حقول الجسد" بقراءة نقدية الأستاذ محمد حسن بزي ومما جاء فيها: "أما قبل .. من أين يأتيك الشعر يا صديقي؟ وكيف تتنزل عليك القصائد، وكلها محاريب عشق ولا "ندم"، وكيف يندم السّكارى و "أميرة النار" و "السلطان" ، "اليتيم" ما زالوا نجوماً "تستاقها الكلمات" في "حقول الجسد" ..؟! (...). أما بعد .. لم أرَ أجلّ وأدلّ من عناوين قصائد الشاعر الدكتور علي عجمي لتكون دليلي ومادتي في هذا التقديم.
الصديق الدكتور علي يغريك شعره بالإستماع إليه أكثر من الكتابة عنه، حاله حال المطر في موسم حرّ وقرّ، وحال السفر في سفر الشعر الأصيل. فأراني أسافر في شعرك؛ أحلق في رؤياك، وكم تمنيتُ ألا أعود إلا إليك. سعادة السفير الدكتور علي عجمي؛ عليك سلام الشعر في الزمن الجميل".
يضم الكتاب قصائد في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "ندم" ، "أميرة النار" ، "أنا السلطان" ، "أنا اليتيم" ، "تستاقها الكلمات" ، "حقول الجسد" ، "عيناك" ، "شغف" ، (...) وقصائد أخرى.
