تتابع المؤلفة مراحل الواقع العربي في متغيراته عبر التاريخ ابتداء من الواقع الذي انطلقت خلاله الطبقات والتي أفرزتها قوانين التناقض في البنية الاجتماعية السياسية في مراحل التاريخ المبكرة، ثم تأتي مرحلة النفط التي خلقت واقعاً طبيعياً جديداً في النطاقين المحلي والقومي، حيث انبعثت منه قيم وسياسات وممارسات، ثم مرحلة بعد الاستقلال الذي تشكل خلاله نموذجات للتطور، نموذج التحولات: الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والسياسية، ونموذج التحالف الإقطاعي، البورجوازي، وثم المرحلة بين 1989-1993 حيث بدأ واقع جديد يتشكل بعد انهيار جزء من معكسر (الاتحاد السوفياتي) حيث بات للواقع الجديد أزمنة، يتراجع فيها التقدم، ثم يتوازن ويتقدم. بالإجمال، فإن المؤلفة تتابع هذه المراحل ترصدها وتسجل آليتها وتفاصيلها من خلال دراسة علمية منهجية متأنية للوصول إلى رؤية لمستقبل الواقع العربي.
