أستاذ جامعي درّس في الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت، وجامعة جورجتاون في واشنطن، وجامعة تورنتو في كندا، والجامعة اللبنانية في بيروت. وله مؤلفات في بحوث اللغة العربية وآدابها، وترجم الى العربية مئات الكتب، بينها الكثير من الكتب في التربية وفي ثقافة الأطفال. وألّف أربعين كتاباً قصصياً للأطفال تُرجم عدد منها الى اللغات الانكليزية والفرنسية والإيطالية. وفاز بجائزة الشيخ زايد للكتاب، في فئة الترجمة للعام 201 أستاذ جامعي درّس في الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت، وجامعة جورجتاون في واشنطن، وجامعة تورنتو في كندا، والجامعة اللبنانية في بيروت. وله مؤلفات في بحوث اللغة العربية وآدابها، وترجم الى العربية مئات الكتب، بينها الكثير من الكتب في التربية وفي ثقافة الأطفال. وألّف أربعين كتاباً قصصياً للأطفال تُرجم عدد منها الى اللغات الانكليزية والفرنسية والإيطالية. وفاز بجائزة الشيخ زايد للكتاب، في فئة الترجمة للعام 2010.
Book Description
تهدف سلسلة "أنا أقرأ" إلى تشجيع أطفالنا على القراءة بأنفسهم، وإلى إرضاء هذا الطموح فيهم، فهي موجهة إليهم موضوعاً وأسلوباً. فالقصص المحكية هنا هي مما ثبت أن الأطفال في العالم كله يحبونه ويتعلقون به. والألفاظ المختارة هي مما يتعلمه الطفل في بيته حتى قبل أن يدخل المدرسة، وأسلوب الكتابة مباشر ينسجم مع عقليته وفهمه. ولما كان تعليم القراءة والتشجيع عليها وإثارة الرغبة في المطالعة من أهداف هذه السلسلة، فقد روعي فيها أن تكون على مراحل متدرجة من حيث طبيعة الموضوع وعدد الألفاظ وطول المادة.
وكتب "روبنسن كروزو" ووليم تل"، "الفرشاة الذهبية"، "الحجر العجيب"، تمثل المرحلة الرابعة التي ينصح أن يبدأ بها الطفل بعد قراءته كتب المرحلة الثالثة وهي "رباب في الغابة"،"هاني وبسبوس"، "زاهر في العاصمة"، "عمر والذئب".
