عبد العزيز صالح المَقالِح (1937 -)، أديب وشاعر وناقد يمني، ولد عام 1937 في قرية المقالح في محافظة إب وهو رئيس المجمع العلمي اللغوي اليمني. ويُعد في مقدمة شعراء اليمن المعاصرين، وأحد أبرز الشعراء العرب في العصر الحديث.
درس على مجموعة من العلماء والأدباء في مدينة صنعاء، تخرج من دار المعلمين في صنعاء عام 1960، وواصل تحصيله العلمي حتى حصل على الشهادة الجامعية عام 1970، في عام 1973 حصل درجة الماجستير في اللغة العربية وآدابها من كلية الآداب جامعة عين شمس ثم درجة الدكتوراه عام 1977 من نفس الجامعة، وترقى إلى الأستاذية عام 1987. تميزت كتابته بشيء من الكلاسيكية، لكنها سرعان ما انفتحت على الحداثة. عرف عنه كتابته لقصيدة أن يحرمونا يا حبيب الغرام وتغنى بها الفنان اليمني أحمد فتحي.

كانت اليمن - وما تزال إلى حد بعيد - في منأى عن متناول الدراسات العلمية في مختلف فروع المعرفة، ويهدف هذا البحث إلى وضع الأساس النظري والمنهجي لدراسة القصيدة العامية المدونة في اليمن منذ ظهورها حتى وقتنا الحاضر بوصفها تجربة إقليمية خاصة تثري مع بقية التجارب الإقليمية من هذا النوع - الأدب القومي وخبراته وتجاربه.
وقد قام البحث بصفة إجمالية على أساس من المنهجين التاريخي والفني حيث يجسد المنهج التاريخي واقع الحياة الإجتماعية في اليمن في إطارها التاريخي منذ بداية ظهور القصيدة العامية، ويجسد المنهج الفني الصياغة الإبداعية لذلك الواقع من خلال الرؤية الخاصة لشاعر العامية في إطار التشكيل الجمالي والفني للقصيدة.
ولقد جاء تقسيم البحث على ثلاثة أبواب، كل باب منها يتألف من فصلين ويتصدر الباب الأول - وهو دراسة تاريخية - تمهيد عن اللغة، كما يتصدر البابين الأخيرين - وهما دراسة نقدية - تمهيدان أو مدخلان عن الأوضاع السياسية والإجتماعية والثقافية التي رافقت نشأة ذلك الشعر وكونت الأرضية التي نما عليها واتسعت أبعاده ومناحيه.
