تمّ جمع مواد هذا القاموس ثنائي اللغة (إنجليزي-عربي) من عدة مراجع موثوقة فجاء شاملاً موسّعاً، ليضم معظم مفردات اللغة الإنجليزية والتي شاع استعمالها في الحديث والأدب والعلوم، وقد أهمل المعجمين في هذا القاموس الكلمات اللاتينية أو اليونانية أو الفرنسية لأن الهدف منه هو أن يكون مرجعاً للمفردات الإنجليزية البحتة.
وقد تضمنت صفحات هذا العمل العديد من المفردات التي أصبحت في صلب لغتنا العربية، فجاءت ترجمة المعاني سهلة ومحددة بدقة وقد ألحق المعجم بملحق يتضمن بعض المعلومات المفيدة والمختصرات الشائعة الاستعمال والتي يصادفها القارئ في سياق مطالعته للكتب والمراجع والمؤلفات العلمية أو الأدبية، كما تضمن جداول بالمساحات الكلية للقارات والبحيرات والصحارى الكبرى، يضاف إلى ذلك مقاييس تحويل درجات الحرارة.
والهدف الأساسي من إصدار هذا القاموس هو تغطية الحاجة اليومية وتذليل العقبات التي يواجهها الباحث عند ترجمته لأحد النصوص أو قراءة كتاب أو حتى مطالعة مجلة.
