ليس في نية غسان كعدو أن يطرح نفسه كباحث أكاديمي في تجميع الحكم والأمثال وضعها في كتاب، فالسوق ممتلئ بهذا النوع من الكتب. لا، فهو تملكه رغبة اكتشاف الحقائق وسير أغوار المعرفة. من هذا المنطلق، وكان لا يزال على مقاعد الدراسة، قام باختيار مجموعة كبيرة من الحكم والعبارات، من خلال قراءة الكتب والمجلات التي كانت تقع تحت يديه في سن المراهقة، وعمل على تدوينها وحفظها داخل دفاتره المدرسية. وقد استطاع، مع تشجيع بعض الأساتذة له: من تقسيمها إلى عناوين ضمن مواضيع لها علاقة وثيقة بمسائل الحياة المختلفة من الحب إلى الموت إلى المرأة إلى الأم إلى العطاء إلى الغير... الخ. وكان همه في ذلك كله هو البحث عن الحقائق كطالب شغوف يبحث عن الماء في صحراء. ولم يكن هدفه من هذا العمل أكثر من إيصال أفكار وفلاسفة والأدباء عبر انتقاء أجمل ما فيها واختصارها بطريقة تبسيطية توفر على القارئ تقليب المئات من الصفحات، لا بل الألوف.
