رسالة الكتاب هي إعلاء كلمة منهاج الله، “الكشف” عنه وتأصيله؛ قضيته هي قضية المتشابه الذى استغلق على الجمع، تطاحنوا عليه إلى حد الكفر والتكفير، تشتتوا شيعاً وتخلفوا وفقدوا أسباب الاستخلاف في الأرض منذ الانحسار في الأندلس، ما يعني وعورة البحث فيه وقصور أدوات الاستدلال والتأويل لاستكناه مقاصد تنزيل الرسالة الخاتمة شرعة ومنهاجاً. تمفصلت الأولى الشرعة بالبحث، أما الثاني المنهاج فما زال مطموراً ومعه الإعجاز الإلهي يترى في الزمن دون مقتضى بعث الرسل. طرائق الاستدلال المعروفة عجزت عن الكشف عن المنهاج، ولا سبيل إليه بالوضعيات، إشراق المنهاج يلتزم أدوات استدلال وتأويل نقلية لم يقف عليها أحد من قبل، بمعنى تدبّر القرآن بمعاول قرآنية، تفتح أبواب المنهاج وتستنير دروبه الوعرة، من منظور أن متشابه القرآن في تعقيده وتشابك أكنته يماثل ما خلق الباري سبحانه من أحياء وكواكب ونجوم وبنان الإنسان، الإعجاز الأعظم للقرآن الذي حير العقول منذ الوحي، فقد عاد القرآن مهجوراً.
قضيتان أساسيتان في مكتشف المنهاج هما السبع المثاني والجدل. الأولى هي بنية المنهاج وأركانه. أما الثاني فمتمركز في عصب الأولى. السبع المثاني كما يعرّفها الكتاب هي كليات الوجود، لا ترقى إليها فلسفة وضعية في الإلمام وإحكام ما بين أيدي البشر في شتى مجالات الفكر. يتناول الكتاب الثلاث مكتشفات بصورة مجملة وافية البيان، من المأمول التفصيل عليها فيما يلي من أجزاء الكتاب الذي تتخلّله قضايا أخرى في مقدمتها قضية الاستدلال والتأويل، وقضية الاتفاق بين العقل والنقل، المقابلة بينهما لبسط المصطلح. كذلك الإعجاز العلمي والإسهامات الإسلامية في النهضة الأوروبية، ضمنها فلسفة الجدل والتنوير. في تطبيق المثاني تنفرد أفكار نصر أبو زيد بالمثل السوء الذي عليه الشرح والتبيين. الكتاب بدسمه وجديته لا مثيل له على ساحة الفكر، زاخر بالأطروحات العلمية.
