البارع الزوزني الغساني: أبو القاسم أسعد بن علي بن أحمد الزوزني (توفي سنة 492هـ) كان من أفضل الشعراء وأشهرهم، في خراسان والعراق، حتى شاع ذكره في الآفاق. وهو من عرب زوزن، سكن نيسابور، وورد العراق ومعه الشاعر (الباخرزي) وكان له صديقاً وصاحب سفر.
عن هذا الشاعر وعصره وديوانه يتحث هذا الكتاب ويبدأ بمقدمة يترجم فيها المؤلف لشيوخ الشاعر ومن روى عنه ومكانته الأدبية بين المؤرخين وصلته بالشاعر (الباخرزي) فالباخرزي –يقول المؤلف- في روزنامجته هو المصدر الوحيد الذي ذكر نسب شاعرنا الزوزني. وإذا أمعنا النظر في هذه الروزنامجة.. المطبوعة بعنوان "يوميات أديب" نجدها طافحة بأخبار شاعرنا ولهوه وشربه مع أعيان زوزن، في مجالس ضمت الصفوة من أدباء زوزن وأنحائها...".
إلى ذلك، يتحدث الكتاب عن مصادر الشعر العربي في العصر السلجوقي، ومصادر المؤلف في عرضه لهذا الديوان وأخيراً (نص الديوان) موزعاً على بحور الشعر العربي الموزون والمقفى بحسب الترتيب الألفبائي ويبدأ بـ (قافية الهمزة) وينتهي بـ (قافية الهاء) مع شرح الألفاظ والمعاني والإشارة إلى المصادر.
