تم تطرق في هذا الكتاب إلى تاريخ التشيع والشيعة في أربع مناطق تتمتع بأهمية إستثنائية ففي إستعراض سريع تمت متابعة نشوء التشيع في العراق بدءاً من تمصير الكوفة وتحول الإمام عليّ إليها فيما أن تحول العراقيون في أكثريتهم إلى المذهب في أوائل القرن التاسع عشر الميلادي.
ولبنان الذي تحول فيه الشيعة اليوم إلى ما يشبه بيضة القبان، كان لهم تاريخ يبدأ من هجرة الهمدانيين من الكوفة، كما تم الحديث عن تاريخ التشيع في إيران، وتبين فيه كيف أن التشيع في مختلف مراحله وصل وانتشر في إيران بواسطة الرواة والعلماء العرب الذين قدموا من الكوفة أولاً ثم لبنان والبحرين ثانياً.
وفي الإستعراض التاريخي تم الحديث عن التشيع في القطيف والأحساء والذي بدأ مع إسلام عبد القيس في حوالي السنة السادسة للهجرة.
