كتاب الخط هذا هو جزء أساسي من كتاب "خطوة خطوة" المخصص لصفوف الروضة الثانية، وهو معد للتدريب على مهارات كتابة الحروف والكلمات والجمل وقراءتها، إذ تنقسم نشاطاتها إلى جزأين: نشاطات أقرأ ونشاطات أكتب.
وقد اعتمد فيه نمطاً متكرراً في التدريب على الحروف مع الأصوات القصيرة والطويلة، حتى تكون منطلقاً مهيئاً لجمع الحروف في كلمات كتابة وقراءة، مع مراعاة مواقع الحروف في الكلمات وأصواتها.
ويميز هذا الكتاب استخدامه الخط النسخي الصحيح، والذي يقرأه المتعلم ويكتبه كما يراه، علماً أن المؤلف اضطر إلى تجاوز قواعد الخط النسخي في مواضع معينة، نظراً لصعوبة كتابتها على المتعلمين، وبغرض توحيد أشكال الحروف المتقاربة.
