لما كان كتاب عوارف المعارف للشيخ الإمام شهاب الدين أبي حفص بن عبد الله السهروردي من أحسن كتب التصوف وأشهرها، وأخصر المؤلفات فيه وأفيدها، وكان فيه أحاديث كثيرة، بعضها مسند وأكثرها معلق، وفي جميعها الثابت وغيره أحب أحمد بن محمد بن الصديق الغماري أن يخرج ما فيه من الأحاديث المعلقة، وأن يستخرج على ما فيه من الأحاديث المسندة، أو يتكلم على رجالها إن لم يجد لها مخرجاً، وسماه "عواطف اللطائف من أحاديث عوارف المعارف" وهو هذا الكتاب الذي نقلب صفحاته وتتميماً للمعرفة عنى المحقق بتدوين مقدمة للكتاب وترجمة مستفيضة دوّن فيها مسرداً عن حياة أحمد بن الصديق ومجموعة من المباحث المتنوعة التي ألمت ببعض جوانب آرائه، وجاءت عناوينها كما يلي: أحمد بن الصديق ورغبة تجديد الفقه المكي، أحمد بن الصديق ومعرفة الحديث، أحمد بن الصديق وآل البيت عليهم السلام، أحمد بن الصديق والاجتهاد والتقليد، أحمد بن الصديق والتصوف.
