"ظنت بأن النار تروي ظامئاً... أو تُنْجد المسموم بالترياقِ"... "خابت فأحرقها اللظى بلهيبها... ومشت إلى نيرانيها بالساقِ"... "جهلت بأن الشوق ينسج ملفحاً... والدفءُ يظهر لهفة المشتاقِ"... "سلكت سبيل الإصفرار يجهلها... والحكَّ يكشف قيمة البرّاق"...
"ماتت كوت الليل عند صباحه... وبموت ليلى لوعة الإشراق"... "لست الذي يبكي الجفاف بغيره... نضرٌ بناني طيّب الإعراقِ"... "قولوا لها إن الحياة غمامةً... قد أمطرت من مائها الرقراقِ"... "لن تهطل الأمطار في صحرائها... أو كيف تدرك متعة العشاقِ".
في شعره صدى ذاك الشعر القديم الذي يعكس جماليات اللغة ببلاغتها، وبيانها... يطوف القارئ في روض قصائده مستأنساً بما حفلت به من صور بيانيه... ومن معان مجازية... ويبقى ذاك الجرس الموسيقى يسري في داخله ليشيع شعوراً لطيفاً... مترافقاً مع دندنات لا تنهي... في هذه القصيدة كما في سائر قصائده.
