"الأخبل" ديوان شعري ينفتح على إتياءات ومدلولات متعددة، متشظية، لا يربطها ببعضها سوى همس شفاف، يتماهى في معانيه مع ما احتواه من أقصوصات تخييلية، تبحث عن الحب الحقيقي حتى ولو وراء الموت وفيه يبدو الشاعر لاحقا بحبيبته في حياة أخرى، ويشعر بسعادة الإنتظار حتى ولو لم تأت الحبيبة " .. انتظرت حبيبتي من الصباح إلى المساء/ ولم تأت/ ورغم ذلك شعرت بالسعادة/ الحمامة تهدل على سطح عاشقة/ وحفار القبو قبالتي،/ الأمر بديهي/ أحدهم مات/ وآخر يمارس الحب مع عاشقة".
يقسم الشاعر ديوانه إلى مئة وخمسة وأربعين مقطعاً تتفاوت في طولها، بعض هذه المقاطع يأخذ شكل القصيدة السردية، وتتشكل نصوص لاحقة من صور شعرية تكشف عن العالم الداخلي للشاعر ومخاضات وجوده. وهو يبحث عن المعنى الحقيقي للحياة والموت وما بينهما من أحاسيس وانفعالات كقوله " .. ليس الموت كما تتخيلون، أقله كما أحسست أنا؟ فحينما تصبح الحياة موتا يصبح الموت حياة".
هكذا يكتب شاعرنا عبر نظرة إلى العالم مختلفة، تسعى إلى فهم الأشياء وإعادة إنتاجها شعرياً، وهذا ما يميز جوزف دعبول عن شعراء آخرين ...
