تجري ، ومنذ زمن محاولات لكتابة تاريخ الحركة الاشتراكية والماركسية والشيوعية في الوطن العربي. على أن من شروط الكتابة الدقيقة للتاريخ أن تكون الوثائق متوفرة ومنشورة ، وبالنسبة للحركة الاشتراكية والماركسية ، ثم الشيوعية تحديداً ، فإن وثائقها ما تزال غير منشورة غالباً لأسباب تعود إلى انقسامات هذه الحركة ومحاولات الجناح الذي سيطر عليها أواسط الثلاثينات إخفاء جهود من اختلف معهم ، بل والإساءة إلى دور ومواقف وتاريخ أسماء معينة. بهمّ علميّ نقدم هذه الوثيقة - الشهادة على بدايات تشكل الحركة الشيوعية في سوريا ولبنان - وربما مصر وفلسطين -وتقديمنا لها لا يعني إلا سماع شهادة طال إخفاؤها ، إنها شهادة تساعد على كتابة تاريخ تجوهل ونسي ربما حرّف وزوّر ، وهي جديرة بالاستماع إليها ، سواء اتفق معها أم اختلف.وقد كتب هذه الوثيقة فؤاد الشمالي.
