ناداها.. دنت منه.. رماها بحصاة.. أجفلت.. هربت من وجهه ولاذت بنتوء صخري، لحق بها.. غمرته موجة جديدة من الفرح. ها هو ذا يخيف مخلوقاً ما فيهرب منه ويختبئ... رماها بحجر، ظل يحلق خطواتها منتشياً بنصره في أولى معاركه مع الحياة وهي تمعن صعوداً في الجرف حتى وصلت الى الاسفلت. كانت زوجته تقف صامتة عند الطرف الآخر من الجثة، ترسل اليه عيناها المحمرتان نظرات سريعة متتالية كشرر النار، هذا الشرر وحده كان كافياً لإحراق صك عتقه الذي رفرف من حوله، ودنا من وجهه، ثم دنا حتى لامس أنفه ولم تدركه يداه.
