نص شديد الإحكام في بنائه، ذو لغة أدبية راقية، يُعدُّ إضافة للروايات العربية الهادفة التي تعالجَ مضمونًا ذا نزعة إنسانية. وعلى الرغم من أنه يحملُ خطابًا تربويًّا إصلاحيًّا فإنه لم يقع – كما يقع غيره- في تقريرية الأعمال الإبداعية التي تحمل هذا الخطاب، فالنصُّ خالٍ من النزعة الخطابية والتقريرية. النص به مساحة كبيرة من التشويق والمُتعة التي هي أحد أهم رسائل الأدب، وتميز النص بتعدد خطاباته الإصلاحية بإيجاز دون حشو؛ ففيه دفعٌ نحو الإيجابية وبيان لأهمية الحياة الروحية للفرد، وأهمية العلاقات المثمرة وعلى رأسها الصداقة، وكذلك الصبر والرضا بالقضاء والقدر وأهمية البناء الأسري. يمثِّل النصُّ إضافة للروايات التي عالجت تجربة السجن على نحوٍ يصنع الإيجابية وليس العكس. تعاملُ الكاتبُ مع مضمون روايته وأسباب أزمة البطل تعاملٌ شديد الاحترافية والمهارة؛ فتجربة الفقد والتَّوقُ الدائم إلى العائلة والأنيس كانت ملمحًا مخاتلًا للقارئ يمسك به ثم يتفلَّتُ منه، وكان من الممكن أن يستنتجه القارئ وحده حتى لو لم يذكر الكاتب سبب الأزمة في نهاية الرواية؛ فتَوْقُ البطل لعائلة يكون هو جزءًا منها كان السبب الرئيس لمحنته ودخوله السجن، ثم حنينه لصديق يشاطره ما به ويستريح إليه، ثم تغيُّر حاله إلى الأفضل مع زيارة عائلة ياسين له، ثم حالة التطهُّر بالحكي لصديقه براء، كل هكذا عكس بمهارة فائقة أزمة البطل.
