يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى تعريف الطلاب بالجغرافيا السياحية وإدارة المقاصد والمخيمات السياحية، والتي تعتبر السياحة أهم موضوعاتها، والسياحة اليوم غدت تمثل العمود الفقري للإقتصاد العالمي في الوقت الراهن، حتى أنها تغلبت على الصناعة، لما تدره من أرباح نتيجة للإنفاقات التي تستحوذ عليها سواء على الصعيد الرسمي أو الشخصي.
وتعتبر السياحة صناعة متشابكة مع كثير من الصناعات والخدمات التي تغذيها وتكملها، وتنتشر هذه الصناعات المغذية والمكملة في قطاعات عديدة: منها زراعية، وصناعية، وفي قطاعات النقل والتشييد والبناء، والخدمات المصرفية... إلخ.
ويتضح اليوم أن علم الجغرافيا يؤثر في صناعة السياحة بنقط عديدة لدرجة أن الجغرافيا تعد دراسة ميدانية للسياحة إذ تهيئ لها ميدانياً خصباً للتقصي، ومن جانب آخر فللسياحة تشعبات تهم الجغرافي في مثل التغيرات في إستخدام الأراضي، التطور الحضري، نشأة المدن وتطورها، الدراسات الإقليمية، إلخ.
وقد جاء هذا الكتاب الذي يحمل عنوان جغرافية السياحة وإدارة المقاصد والمخيمات السياحية ثلاثة عشر فصلاً كما رأينا.
ونظراً لأن المكتبات العربية تفتقد إلى هذه النوعية من الدراسات والمؤلفات التي يبحث عنها طلاب العلم والعاملين بهذه المجالات... وبهذا العمل المتواضع أسأل الله تعالى أن أكون قد وفقت في تقديم هذا الكتاب ليكون بمثابة نبراساً يضيء الطريق إلى كل محبي المعرفة والعلم والسياحة.
