هذه الفتاوى التي نقدمها بين يدي القراء والباحثين هي بعض ما أفتى به الشيخ أحمد الكردي على طول حياته العلمية، عندما كان أميناً للفتوى ثم مفتياً في حلب، ذلك أنه كان المرجع الأول للفتوى في محافظة حلب على سعتها في طول هذه المدة، بل المرجع الأهم للفتوى في المحافظات الشرقية من سوريا كلها، وذلك بالنظر إلى شهرته العلمية وثقة الناس به، وتقبل المسؤولين في القضاء والشرطة لفتاواه، واهتمامهم بها، فإذا حلت خصومة بين اثنين مثلاً ورفعا أمرهما إلى الشرطة واختلط الأمر على الشرطة في أن الحق مع الأول أو الثاني منهما، كانت الشرطة ترجع إلى الشيخ الكردي في كثير من الأحيان ليبين لهما المحق من غير المحق من هذين الرجلين، فإذا أفتاها بشيء التزمت بفتواه، وحلت الخصومة بين المتخاصمين على وفقها، وربما طلب الرجوع إلى الشيخ أحمد الكردي المتخاصمان أنفسهما أو أحدهما، وهكذا على مدى ثلث قرن من الزمان. فأما الإجابات الشفهية التي قال بها فلم تسجل، وقد ضاعت عبر الزمان، إلا ما يتناقله المستفتون من فتاواه بينهم إلى يومنا هذا.
وأما فتاواه المكتوبة والمختومة رسمياً فهي محفوظة في سجلات بخط الشيخ الكردي نفسه في أكثر الأحيان، أو بخط نجله الشيخ محمد المهدي في أحيان أخرى. وهذا النوع الثاني من الفتاوى هو ما يجمعه هذا الكتاب بين طياته وذلك بعد أن تم تقسيمها ووضع عناوين لها، وترتيبها على حسب المخطط الذي وضع لها، من حيث الأبواب والفصول والمطالب.
