الشيخ أحمد الأحسائي هو خريج مدرستي كربلاء والنجف، وهو لا يبتعد عن الوعي الإسلامي وحقائقه، واستجلاء كنوزه الخالدة. ولقد أدرك الفهم العام للقضايا الإسلامية فكراً وأسلوباً وسلوكاً ومنهجاً على امتداد الزمن الذي عاش فيه، وإن رجلاً كهذا الفيلسوف لا يمكن للزمن أن يسدل عليه غبار النسيان، ولا يمكن أن ينسى ما قدمه للعالم من أعمال فكرية ومعرفية جديدة، انتشرت في كتبه وخطاباته ومحاضراته التي أغنت التجربة المعاصرة في تطوير حركة العلم نحو الأفضل. وسجلت نجاحاً باهراً ضد التخلف، لأن حركتها تعبير صريح عن نحوها ونحو إرادتها وانطلاق مواهبها الداخلية، ومن هذا الفهم كانت منطلقاته في حركة التوجه لإصلاح المجتمع وخدمة الدين على هذا الأساس فيما كان يرسخ من إيمان الناس بقيادة العلماء العاملين وكتاب "آخر الفلاسفة"، الذي نقلب صفحاته، هو رؤية عصرية جديدة في فكر الشيخ أحمد الأحسائي، وهو يهدف إلى إعطاء سيرة فلسفية لأهم آراء الشيخ وأفكاره التي كونت في مجموعها منهجاً فكرياً متكاملاً تضع صاحبها في مصانف الفلاسفة العظام، كما أشار إلى ذلك المؤلف.
