من سنن الله تعالى الكونية الصراع بين الحقّ والباطل، والإيمان والكفر، والتوحيد والشرك، والسنُّة والبدعة، ومن نعم الله تعالى على البشرية أن أرسل إليها الرسل قائمين بالحق والهدى داعين إلى التوحيد محذّرين من الشرك والوثنية مبدِّدين ظلمات البدع والخرافات، فكانت الأمم السابقة تسوسهم الأنبياء بالإصلاح كلما مات نبيٍّ خلفه نبيٌّ، كما قال صلى الله عليه وسلم: "كانت بنو إسرائيل تسوسهم الأنبياء، كلما هلك نبيٍّ خلفه نبيٍّ وأنه لا نبيّ بعدي وسيكون خلفاء فيكثرون"، قالوا: فما تامرنا؟ قال: "فوا ببيعة الأول فالأول، أعطوهم حقهم، فإن الله سائلهم عما استرعاهم".
ومن رحمة الله تعالى لهذه الأمة أن أرسل إليها أفضل الرسل وجعلها خير أمة للناس، وحفظ لها كتابها الكريم وسنّة رسولها الأمين صلى الله عليه وسلم ثم جعل من العلماء من كل عصر من دعا إلى الكتاب والسنّة وحذروا من البدعة، فهم يحفظون على الأمة عقيدتها وينفون عنها تأويلات الجاهلين وتحريف الغالين وانتحال المبطلين، فهم ظاهرون دائماً بالحجة والبيان على المنحرفين عن الصراط المستقيم.
ومن هؤلاء الأعلام الذين لهم قدم صدق الإمام شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية، وقد جاهد في سبيل تبيين العقيدة الصحيحة من الكتاب والسنّة، وحذر من الشرك والبدعة، وأمر بالتمسك بالسنّة ونهى من مخالفتها، وله قدم راسخة وباع طويل في ذلك، وكلامه مبثوث في كتبه المتفرقة، من أجل ذلك استشرقت إلى دراسة منهجه في بيان البدع والرد عليها، لذا اخترته ليكون موضوع بحثي لنيل درجة العالمية الدكتوراه.
فجعلت عنوانها "منهج شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية في بيان البدع والرد عليها".
