وقد لجأ خلدون فوزي الشرابي إلى فن القصة القصيرة في بنائها التقليدي بتحفيزه الواقعي المندغم بالتعبير الواثق عن مشكلات جماعة مغمورة هي جماعة العمال والفلاحين، غير أنه يوسع مدى تناوله لهذه المشكلات، في إطارها الاجتماعي من جهة، وفي ملامسة البعد الروحي والإنساني للضغوط الاجتماعية، و لا سيما جانبها الأخلاقي من جهة أخرى.
وتتميز كتابة خلدون فوزي الشرابي القصصية بالتناول الفكاهي لهذه المشكلات في صوغ محبب يمنح الابتسامة دون أن يوغل في الدعابية المريرة أو السوداء، وفي هذا الاتجاه يمعن كاتبنا في فكاهة الموقف المستند إلى حوار لافت للنظر في تقصي الشروط الإنسانية عندما يحشر أصحابها في لحظات تأزم هذه الموقف.
