إن "عالم القرن العشرين" يتضمن نظرات على ما تمخض عن اندفاع العالم في أتون الحرب العالمية الأولى من نتائج مباشرة، ونظرات على ثورات عارمة، قبلت موازين العالم السياسية والعقائدية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية، وعرفته بأنظمة حديثة لم يسبق له تطبيقها. حملت في طياتها الخير العميم، والشر المستطير في آن واحد. فقوبلت بالتآزر القوي، وفي نفس الوقت بالمعارضة الشديدة. إذ باركتها بعض الدول، وهاجمتها دول أخرى إعلامياً ثم عسكرياً للقضاء عليها، لأنها رأت فيها خطراً داهماً على أنظمتها بل على وجودها.
إن "عالم القرن العشرين" يتضمن نظرات على التطرف القومي والعنصري، الذي لم يكن يتساهل تماماً، في تلبية ما تمليه مصالحه الذاتية وأطماعه، ولو كان ذلك على حساب الآخرين. وإيمان بعض الدول وهي اليابان وألمانيا وإيطاليا بنظرية المجال الحيوي. واندفاعها للتوسع الخارجي. ضاربة عرض الحائط بالأعراف والمعاهدات الدولية، ومعتدية على غيرها من الدول. مما خلف نتائج لا حصر لها. أتت في مقدمتها أدمة ما شهدته البشرية من حروب حتى الآن، وهي الحرب العالمية الثانية.
إن "عالم القرن العشرين" يتضمن نظرات على العالم الإسلامي والشرق الأقصى، فيما بين الحربين، بثوراته وانتفاضاته التحريرية. التي وإن كانت لم تحقق أهدافها في التخلص من الأخطبوط الاستعماري، إلا أنها كانت خطوات على طريق الاستقلال، أتت أكلها بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية. فضلاً عن نظرات على مشاعل الحرية، التي أنارت رحاب العالم الذي تخبط ردحاً طويلاً من الزمن، في ظلال الاستعمار الدامس. بعد أن قدم الوطنيون ملايين الضحايا والشهداء، قرباناً لاستقلالهم وكرامتهم، ومحاولة دول هذا العالم التخلف أن تسلك طريق التقدم من بدايته. بعد أن تركها الاستعمار في هوة سحيقة من التأخر في جميع المجالات.
