نرى في نتاج بونفوا أحد النماذج الأكثر التزاماً والأكثر تبصراً، إن لكتاباته، شاعراً وباحثاً، ذات النبرة الشخصية البارزة، والتي تتجلى فيها، ببساطة وقوة، إنية الطرح الذاتي، موضوعاً هو العلاقة مع العالم، لا التأمل الداخلي للذات. فهذا النتاج هو أحد النتاجات الأقل نرجسية. إنه متجه بكليته نحو الشيء الخارجي الذي يهمه، وتتضمن فرادته، وخاصيته الفذة إمكان المشاركة دائماً. هكذا ليس الطرح الذاتي إلا الطرف الأول من علاقة شكلها المتطور هو الاستفهام: الأنت الذي يتوجه الى الغير (الى الواقع خارج الأنا)، لكن أيضاً الأنت الذي يخط فيه الشاعر نداءً موجهاً اليه هما في الاقل ملحان كمثل أنا التوكيد الشخصي.
يمكن القول إن هم العالم يبقى الذات في يقظة، وإنها مسؤولة عنه عبر استعمالها اللغة. يقول لنا بونفوا، مستعيناً بالمعجم الأخلاقي، إن الرهان خير مشترك - خير يجب أن يتحقق بالضرورة ويختبر في التجربة الفردية لكن ليس لمصلحة الفرد المنعزل، وحدها الذات، أو الأنا الحاضرة بقوة في فعل المنطق، لا تبقى وحيدة على المسرح في منطوقها: تفسح برحابة مكاناً للآخر، لمن يلتمس الحنوّ، وتقبل أن يخضع الوعي الفردي، في مواجهة العالم، الى الزام حقيقة ليس له الحق أن يتصرف بها اعتباطياً. إن أنوية (Solipsisme) كثير من "المقالات الشعرية" في العصر الحديث هي ما يرفضه بونفوا بأعلى درجة من القوة. فالعالم هو ما ينبغي أن "يخلص" لا الأنا، أو بتعبير أدق: لا يمكن أن "يخلص" الأنا، إلا أذا خلص معه العالم.
