سافر إلى الهند قبل استقلالها وتقسيمها فبقي فيها مدة طويلة وأتقن اللغة الأُردية كأحد أبنائها. عين أستاذاً بجامعة عليكره وأبعده الإنكليز فقصد فرنسة، واشتغل بالتجارة، وعاد بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية، واختير عضواً في المجمع العلمي الإسلامي للأبحاث الذي أنشأه العلامة محمد إقبال سنة 1 مؤرخ أديب. ولد بدمشق ونشأ بها. ونال شهادة الدكتوراه من جامعة لوزان بسويسرة. وعاد لبلاده فعمل بالتعليم. مؤلف غزير الإنتاج.
سافر إلى الهند قبل استقلالها وتقسيمها فبقي فيها مدة طويلة وأتقن اللغة الأُردية كأحد أبنائها. عين أستاذاً بجامعة عليكره وأبعده الإنكليز فقصد فرنسة، واشتغل بالتجارة، وعاد بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية، واختير عضواً في المجمع العلمي الإسلامي للأبحاث الذي أنشأه العلامة محمد إقبال سنة 1932، وحضر اجتماعه الأول، وعمل معه في المجالات الإسلامية، وكان يعرف جغرافية باكستان ولغاتها ودياناتها معرفة تامة، كما يعرف أهلها وعاداتهم وتقاليدهم ولغاتهم وأديانهم.. واتصل بكبار الشخصيات فيها، فدعوه للاستعانة بخبرته أكثر من مرة لوضع برنامج لتعليم العربية بوصفها لغة ثانية، وحمل فكرة تعريب باكستان وطالب بإعطاء العرب فيها حقوق الأقليات لإظهار العنصر العربي فيها، وطوَّف في عدد من جامعاتها، فألقى محاضراته، ومن أجل ذلك زارها سنة 1983، وقدم ثلاثة تقارير ضمنها رأيه في كيفية نشر العربية. قلَّده رئيس الجمهورية ضياء الحق أرفع وسام باكستاني تقديراً لخدماته. سافر في كثير من بلاد أوربا وآسيا وأفريقيا حتى استقر أخيراً في دمشق. وأحسَّ بدنو أجله فأهدى خزانة كتبه للمكتبه الوطنية بدمشق.

كتاب على درجة عالية من الأهمية جاء على شكل معجم أو فهرس للموضوعات والأحكام الموجودة في التوراة والإنجيل، فمثلاً لو أردنا أن نعرف ما كانت عليه الأضاحي البشرية نجد في الفهرس تحت هذا العنوان المراجع، حيث نجده في سفر قضاة إصحاح 11 فقرة 35 وفي سفر صموئيل الثاني إصحاح 21 فقرة 6 وهكذا، وهو يفيد الباحثين والمحققين في مجال مقارنة الأديان وغيره.
