ذكر العلامة ابن كثير على قوله تعالى *وإن أردتم استبدال زوج مكان زوج وآتيتم إحداهن قنطاراً فلا تأخذوا منه شيئاً، أتأخذونه بهتاناً وإثماً مبيناً، وكيف تأخذونه وقد أفضى بعضكم إلى بعض وأخذن منكم ميثاقاً غليظاً*
قال: أي إذا أراد أحدكم أن يفارق امرأته ويستبدل بها غيرها فلا يأخذ مما كان أصدق الأولى شيئاً ولو كان قنطاراً من المال. قال: وفي هذه الآية دليل على جواز الإصداق بالمال الجزيل. قال: وقد كان عمر بن الخطاب نهى عن كثرة الإصداق، ثم رجع عن ذلك.
في هذا الإطار يأتي هذا الكتاب والتي يكشف النقاب عن قضية تحديد الصداق ومعارضة المرأة لعمر بن الخطاب في ذلك.
