إن القابلية للاستعمارهي كتلك القابليات الكثيرة التي نعايشها بعجرها وبجرها، دون أن ننظر إليها ونقلِّبها فـي رؤوسنا، فنستقذرها إن وجدناها مستقذرة، أو نستمنحها قابليتنا إن وجدناها خليقة بذلك، إلا أن الجو العام قد قام بتثبيط الغالبية الكبرى من بني هذه الأمّة وكسر مجاديفهم، فلم يعد المرء منهم مستعداً لتقليب فكرة بسيطة فـي رأسه، فضلاً عن أن يتملك حرية الاستقذار أو الاستمناح.
ذلك أن جذور الاستعمار قد ضربت أطنابها فـي ثقافة الناس، كما مارست وما زالت تمارس عليهم ــ مدارس لحس الأحذية ــ تلك الثقافة التي لاتقبل النقيض أو النقض أو النقد، فزادت تلكم المدارس من أدبيات الاستخذاء وشوهت وأوغلت فـي تشويه الفكر.
حياتي أنا العربي لا تنسلك فـي ذهن إنسان محترم، فأنا من سيُراكِم ثقافة الحديث للجدار بعد أن صنعت للجدار آذاناً، وسأربّي أبنائي على ذلك، وسأعمل على إصباغ من حولي بصبغتي وفسيفساء ضعفي وضحالتي. أنا لم أنتخب عروبتي هذه، فهل أنتخبتموها أنتم…؟
