هذا الكتاب يتناول بحوثاً لغوية في الصرف والمعاجم والدلالة.
-يتناول في الصرف أبنية المصادر، المقصور والممدود والمنقوص، والألفاظ الملحقة بالمثنى، القلب المكاني، المفرد والجمع، بعض أبنية المشتقات كصيغ المبالغة، وأسماء الزمان والمكان والآلة والمرة، وأخيراً أبنية النسب.
-الدراسة المعجمية تتناول تفسير دلالة الألفاظ، كالتفسير النظير الذي يغذي المعاجم الموضوعية بالكثير من الألفاظ من خلال فكرها لنظائرها، كما أنه يفيد في بيان ماغَمُضَ، ويأخذ بأيدي الكتاب الذين يجهلون الفروق الدقيقة بين الألفاظ ومدلولاتها.
-ويتناول أيضاً الدلالة اللفظية للأسماء وعلاقتها بالمجتمع، وفيه محاولة لإماطة اللثام عن كل ما أشكل فهمه ومعرفته من الأسماء من خلال التعرف على معانيها، وتوضيح إشتقاقاتها، وتأويل معانيها.
-الدراسة الدلالية تتناول التغير الدلالي، حيث صوّب المؤلف بعض الألفاظ التي يخطئ فيها العامة.
-ويتناول كذلك التطور الدلالي للألفاظ، توصل المؤلف إلى أن هذا التطور قد وقع بالفعل في العربية وغيرها من اللغات، وذلك لوجود علاقة وثيقة بين اللغة والمجتمع والحياة الإنسانية جعلت تطور الألفاظ أمراً لا مناص منه.
-والكتاب - بصفة عامة - لا غنى عنه لكل باحث ودارس في اللغة العربية.
