هذا كتابي "نبي أورفليس" أتحدث فيه عن جبران كما أراه بعين روحي. وللكتاب أغراض أخر تتناول آرائي الخاصة في الحياة، والاجتماع، والأدب، والفن، والمرأة، والرسم، والشعر، والنقد. وفي هذه كلها لم أخرج عن الدائرة التي رسمتها لنفسي في هذه الأصوات المتجاوبة في "نبي أورفليس"، الهاتفة بتقديس النبوغ الجبراني، ولا سيما في كتابه "النبي" الذي يصلح لأن يكون دستوراً للحياة لو استوعب المجتمع آياته وعمل بها، كما ترى مثالاً عن ذلك في معظم فصول الكتاب.
ومما يسرني أني كنت موفقاً في ما وضعته على ألسنة الأدباء المعاصرين لجبران من آراء تتفق وآراءهم فيه، ناهجاً منهج صاحب "يسوع ابن الإنسان"، إذ كان يستحيل علي أن أكتب عن جبران بأسلوب غير أسلوبه، وبغلة غير لغته الشعرية المهفهفة.
وإلا فكيف لي أن أضع في فم جبران كلاماً لا يوائم لغته وتعابيره، واستعارته وتشابيهه؟ وأنا الذي انتقيت عشرات الجمل من مؤلفاته العديدة استجلاء لأغراضه المموهة بطلاء شفاف من الرمزية، وإظهاراً لمراميه الفكرية العميقة، كان لزاماً علي أن أهيئ لإدماجها في أفكاري وآرائي جواً من التعبير يلائمها صياغة بيانية، وصوراً خيالية، تمتد بأجنحتها إلى المدى البعيد الذي تخفق في جوه أجنحة جبران.
