"عشق شرقي" قصائد رومانسية تحكيها يسرى الزاير بخيوطٍ تستلها من ذكرى الحبيب، وكأنها تعيد ترتيب أحاسيسها بشيءٍ من الحنين، هي شاعرة تلون حروفها بدموع إمرأة مشرقية، تنهمر بين السطور، لتقول حكاية كل أنثى / عاشقة، لا ترضى للحب بديلاً...
تقول الشاعرة في عتبة (الإهداء) الأولى: إلى من ابتعلني بنظرة أولى وأطبق عليَّ برمشه لمرة ولم أزل في جب غرامهِ مغيبة... لك يا من علمتني العشق بنظرة عشق شرقي بهمس أشواقي مغمس".
ومن عتبة الإهداء هذه يدرك القارئ خصوصية النص وثيمته الرئيسية ونوع العلاقة بين المُهدي والمهدّى له، وفيه تحضر الشاعرة بشكل ضمني، لتعزف بحروفها على وتر العاطفة، فتنهمر القصائد كلوحة فنية دافئة الألوان كما يسرى الزاير، لنقرأ قصيدة بعنوان: "من أنت": "مالي أفتقدك وأنت ذاتي... أتغرس ملامحك لا تغيير... فمن هو ذاك الحاكي... أين كان ومن أين أتى... أمن مصباح عتيق منسي... أم من عتمات عشق فني... أأنت الذي بالأمس شعلة غرام... بالهمس تحرك للهيام ألف بركان... أم أنت أنت فقط سقط القناع... أثلج الوجد وانتحر الهيام".
يضم الكتاب قصائد في الشعر العربي الحديث ونصوص وخواطر جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "أسكنتك"، "عشق"، "نظرتك"، "حبك قاسي"، "ودي"، "انبش أوراقي"، "فلتاين"، "ملاذ روحي"، "باقة أمل"، "يوم المرأة"، "الموت المدوي"، "همهمات"... وعناوين أخرى.
