سعى الإسلام في تشريعاته وتنظيماته وقوانينه إلى قطع الطريق على المشكلات والأزمات قبل وقوعها، وذلك بسد باب الذرائع والمنافذ؛ لئلا يتسرب الشر إلى مجتمعاته. وعلى ذلك فالوقاية أكثر فعالية من علاج المشكلة بعد وقوعها؛ ويكون ذلك بأخذ النفس البشرية بالتوجيهات الإسلامية الشرعية؛ ولما كان تعريف التربية الإسلامية الذي يراه مؤلف هذا الكتاب هو "علم إعداد الأجيال المسلمة إعداداً كاملاً للحياة الدنيا والآخرة، في جميع مراحل نموهم، في ضوء القيم الإسلامية"؛ فإنه يعرّف لنا أصول التربية الوقائية للطفولة في الإسلام بأنها "القواعد والأسس التي تساعد على تلافي ضياع الأطفال، وتعمل على حمايتهم مما يضرهم. كما تعمل على إعدادهم إعداداً كاملاً للمستقبل الناجح في الدنيا والآخرة".
وانطلاقاً من تلك الرؤية يقدم المؤلف دراسة نظرية تأصيلية ستركز على أهداف التربية الوقائية للطفولة في الإسلام، وهي في ضوء هذه النظرية التأصيلية؛ تهتم بدراسة أسباب ضياع الأطفال والمخاطر التي يتعرضون لها في هذا العصر بالذات في مختلف البلدان الإسلامية، ثم تتناول طرق حمايتهم ووقايتهم، وبيان دور المسؤولين والمؤسسات التربوية في الوقاية.
