في هذا الكتاب اثنتا عشرة جلسة من العلاج بالتحليل النفسي لمراهق ينقصه حس الواقع منذ الطفولة. الجلسة الأولى وفيها المحادثة مع الأم, والمحادثة مع دومنيك وحده. والجلسة الثانية محادثة مع الأب وبعدها محادثة مع دومنيك, ثم الثالثة والرابعة. والخامسة مع دومنيك أمه وأخوه الكبير, ويتحدث بعدها عن باقي الجلسات تباعاً مبيناً العلاج والتحسن في الحالة المدروسة. وفي الجزء الثاني من الكتاب يبحث في علاقة الأخوين و الدور المفسد الممكن للأنا المثالية. والجزء الثالث يبحث في اللقاء التواصل بين الإنساني والتحول في التحليل النفسي لدى الذهانيين. وبعدها ملحق إيضاحات للنظرية الفرويدية مراجع النفس خلال تطور الجنسية في علاقتها بالأوديب العصاب والذهان.
