"كالريح تحمل عطر غابات السهوب، يجيئ همسك القتال، أحمله أنيناً، وأظل أصرخ، في فناء الوقت، أنادي ذا، الذي صنع البرية، أضرع أن يؤوب، الدرب فلا يؤوب. ويجيء يطغي، همسك القتال، يا ذات الطيوب. حملتك كالريح، ذات الرأفتين، أنوء بك، فيسعدني النواء. أمسكتك كالنصل، يقطع راحتي، تنزف، فرحاً على غير انتظار. وأقمت للوشم الخجول، يحرق أكفاني الشعائر. من ذا يصدق أن الشمس تشرق من خواء القحط من عمق الكؤوب. كالريح زمجر صمتك، في حنايا الوحشة الكأداء، شق حدوثك، عمق غابات السكينة: فأفاق ميتك لهيباً، يعالجه موت دؤوب. إن الذي امتطى، المسامير، الرماح، قتيلاً لا يروم ولن يفيق. أن تعلمين؟ لو عاد منفي، الصقيع إلى المدينة، يقتل مرتين، الميتة الأولى، زيف يلف العتق، كما حبل المشانق. الميتة الأخرى، فرح يمر كما تمر، سحابات الربيع، ليعود منفي الصقيع، إلى المسامير الرماح".
