يحاول الروائي "كامل فرحان صالح" في روايته هذه أن يكشف صفحات غائمة في رؤيتنا للوقائع والأحداث التي حدثت وتحدث في العالم، ولبنان، من حين إلى آخر.
في روايته الرائعة هذه "حب خارج البرد" قراءات أشبه بارتحالات متفاوتة المساحات من جهة الرؤية ومنظور الرؤية وعمقها، وربما تكون إضاءات من منظوره الشخصي، تأملات دونت بين حين وحين تعكس صوراً متعددة لتركيبات إنسانية أفرزتها تركيبة اجتماعية اقتصادية سياسية عبرت عن بني ذهعنية ما تزال مقيدة بثقافة دينية جاهزة سلفاً رغم التطور الذي واكب الحياة البشرية، ففي وصفه لجاره العجوز الذي طالما حكى عن يوم القيامة ونهاية الحياة على الأرض "كان شغفه بالتنبؤات لا يوصف، وفي أي مكان وجد، تسمعه يتحدث عن يوم الحساب، علامات الساعة، واقتراب أول ظهور المهدي المنتظر...".
ففي أسلوب خاص، وسخرية مبطنة، وتعابير مختصرة لصور متعددة من الحياة، أراد أديبنا أن يقول كلمته بحس الأديب الناقد والشاهد الحي على حاضر يحتضر وماض يعجز عن نسيانه.
إنها أكثر من رواية، إنها ملحمة تجسد الواقع بجميع ألوانه، مطرزاً بالفرح مرة وبالحزن مرة، أراد من خلالها "كامل فرحان صالح" محاورة واقع جديد لم يعد ممكناً محاورته إلا بالذهاب إلى منطقة الحدود القصوى.
