في ذلك الزمان كان هناك شاعر معروف يسمونه: الكويتي، طبعاً هو ليس من الكويت بل أغلب الظن بأنه الإحساء، ولكنه اشتهر باسم الكويتي، هذا الشاعر كان مثل الإذاعة، يصور حال العمال في كل مكان، وتطير قصائده مثل البرق بين العمال والموظفين، وكان العمال في أغلبههم يحفظون ما يقوله عن ظهر قلب، ويرددنها أينما حلو، في التوظيف وطريقة التوظيف قال قصيدة أنا أتذكر منها كلامه الذي كان يقول فيه: "رحت للدمام حافي، بين خلق الله أولافي، كل رجال سنافي (نشمي)، ماله فيها مقر، قام ينظر في الحلايا، مثل شراي الضحايا، ما يجوز لها الردايا، غير طيبات النظر".
ما يجعل الإنسان إنساناً هو لغته الخاصة، وذاكرته الحية، وإذا غابت أو غيبت هذه اللغة تعرضت الذاكرة إلى التشوه والانشراخ الذي يقود حتماً إلى ضمورها وذوبانها، ومن ثم فقدان هذا الإنسان لأهم أبعاد التعبير عن إنسانيته.
هذا العمل هو عبارة عن كلمات تلألأت في ذاكرة بعض ممن عاشوا في مدينتي وأحبوها من مختلف الأعمال والأجيال. وعبر هذه الصور نشم رائحة تلك الأيام ونسمع هسيسها الذي يوشك أن يتبخر من ذاكرتنا، وتطمس بشكل مدروس وغير مبرر إنسانياً أو حضارياً من ذاكرة أجيال بكاملها. إلى ذلك الجيل الذي اختنزت همساته برحم سعف النخل وتلال البر وأعماق البحر واختلط عرقه بأول قطرات "الذهب الأسود" وبدأت بعدها حكايات مرحلة جديدة فإلى الجيل الحاضر والأجيال القادمة أهدي هذه المحاولة.
