تتخذ الشاعرة دلال المالكي من موضوعة الحلم بنية أساسية لتشكيل خطابها الإبداعي، والذي يحتشد عبر طبقات سيميائية؛ تخضع كلياً للإحساس الباطني والشعور الممتزج بذات الأنثى / الشاعرة، في (عبرتني حلماً) يتحول الحلم إلى قصيدة حب خالدة، تقولها الشاعرة عبر منظومة من الأداءات التعبيرية الحسية والتراكيب اللغوية، والإشارات المتقاربة في أنسجتها البنائية، وشهريتها التي على ما يبدو تتجه بقيماتها الدلالية والإيحائية إلى معاني الحب وارتباطها بالروح والحلم معاً.
في القصيدة المعنونة "جزيرة الأحلام" تقول الشاعرة دلال المالكي:
أقسمت أن الحلمَ وعدٌ قادم / وبأنك الفجر الندي الباسم ، وبأن أيامي سيجري بحرها / نحو المحيط يطوف فيه الهائم ، فجزيرة الآمال أنت رسمتها / وعلى هوامشها يدور العالم (...) ، الحب سحرٌ والطموح يقوده / هيا لنحلم كي يفيقَ الواهم".
يضم الكتاب ثلاثين قصيدة في الشعر العربي الموزون والمقفى (شعر التفعيلة) جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "نبض الحرف" ، "رواية حب" ، "ذاكرة شعرية" ، "في البدء كان الحلم" ، "دوحة الحب" ، "جزيرة الأحلام" ، "قيثارة أنثى" ، "لحن العتاب" ، "دندنات اللقاء" ، "حواس العشق" ، "مداد الشوق" ، "صوت الصبابة" ، "الحلم سرّ الذاكرة" ، (...) وقصائد أخرى.
