وهذا هو الباعث على تأليف هذا الكتاب إذ فيه دعوة للإقتداء بالرسول الكريم والسير على نهجه القويم، ومن أراد الهداية فعليه أن يهتدي بخلق من زكاه رب العالمين.
وقد استفاد المؤلف في ترتيب هذا الكتاب من كتب القدماء الذين سبقوه وصنفوا في هذا الباب كالشمائل للترمذي، ودلائل النبوة للبيهقي والخصائص. وغيرها ن أمهات الكتب وأضاف إلى ما وجده في هذه الكتب توجيهات فقهيه وتربوية وإيمانية وتاريخية وسياسية بحسب المقام وبحسب حاجة أهل زماننا.
