أضع بين يدي القراء هذه الفصول التي تتناول كتب الأنساب العربية التي انتهت إلينا والتي تمّ نشرها، وكنت نشرت هذه الفصول في مجلة مجمع اللغة العربية بدمشق واستغرقت أحد عشر جزءاً من أعداد المجلة، بدءاً من الجزء الرابع من المجلة 64 للعام 1989.
وقد رأيت من المفيد جمع هذه الفصول في كتاب يوضع بين أيدي القُراء لتيسير الإطلاع عليها والإنتفاع بها، وقد أعدت النظر في بعض ما جاء فيها وأضفت إليها ما وقفت عليه في كتب التراث التي ظهرت بعد نشر بحوثي في المجلة.
