"أنا ملك القلعة" هذه العبارة لطالما رددها "هوبر" المغرور على سمع الصبي الصغير "كنكشو" الذي انتقل مع والدته للعيش في منزل "آل هوبر" بعد وفاة الجد الأكبر؛ وهدفه من تردادها هو إخافة الصغير وإيهامه بأنه المالك الوحيد لجميع أجزاء القلعة؛ وكذلك لجعله يرحل عنها مع والدته، وللوصول إلى هدفه استخدم جميع وسائل التخويف والإيذاء ولكن هل سينجح في تحقيق هدفه؟ هذا ما ترويه "سوزان هيل" في قصتها هذه التي تحمل في طياتها العديد من المعاني التربوية والأخلاقية التي يحتاج إليها الناشئة في عصرنا الحالي.
وبالرجوع إلى ما يميز هذه النسخة التي بين أيدينا نجد أنها قد جاءت مزدوجة اللغة إذ تحتوي بالإضافة على النص الإنكليزي للقصة على ترجمة لهذا النص؛ والهدف من ذلك تمكين طالب المعرفة من المقابلة الدقيقة بين المفردات والأساليب والمعاني، وصولاً إلى الموازنة التي تؤهله للتعلم اللغوي على وقت الأسلوب السليم الموجّه.
