يشير الكتاب الى المخاطر التي تواجه الوطن العربي من مؤامرات وخطط استعمارية, هدفها القضاء على الأمة العربية والإسلامية, ونزع القيم والعقائد من ضمائر أفرادها في عصر بدا فيه كثير من قادتها في الغي, وقد تم هذا العمل لسببين هما: أن البادية السورية كانت مسرحاً رحيباً لأحداث تاريخية هامة لم يسبق لأحد المؤرخين أن تعرض إليها بسبب انصراف غالبيتهم الى تدوين الأحداث السياسية التي كان مسرحها المدن الرئيسية ومراكز الولايات العربية عموماً, وإهمال ما كان عليه واقع القبائل التي كانت تملأ البادية, وهي جزء لا يتجزأ من واقع المجتمع العربي في ظل الإدارة العثمانية, ثانياً: إماطة اللثام عن دور الدول الاستعمارية وموقفها من الامبراطورية العثمانية من جهة, وعلاقة تلك الدول بالصهيونية عبر مختلف القنوات من جهة ثانية, فكانت البادية البيئة المناسبة للعب هذا الدور بحكم جهل البدو وبعدهم عن رقابة الدولة وعيون أجهزة الأمن فيها.
