يشق عبد اللطيف خطاب له طريقاً في قصيدة النثر، تورده مورد الغرابة، وتتيح لمخيلة خصبة طلاقة استثنائية، يخترق بها حجب الكلام، يهتكه ويستولده دلالات غير مطروقة غلباً، فهو وإن كان يتقصد الفانتازي، ليبني فضاءه الشهري، ومناخه الأثير، إلا أن هذا التطلب، بما يضمره من نزوع نحو تحطيم وخلق، وبعث للسخرية في إطار مناقض لها، أولى صفاته الملحمية، يجعل من مخيلة الشاعر واهتمامات هذه المخيلة، مسرحاً للتناقض ومنعقداً لالتماعات تحققها له علاقة باللغة لا تستثني منها ما دأب أغلب الشعر العربي على استبعاده لاعتقاد ظلم بلا شعريته.
فالشاعر يسعى في هذه المجموعة -وهي الأولى له- إلى اكتشاف حضوره في العالم واللغة، وغلى تفعيل هذا الحضور الضدي الطابع إلى أثر شعري مميز.
"زول أمير شرقي" يحفل إذن بالنظرة الذاتية، إلى العالم ويتجاوز المعطى المتداول في الكلام ويستلخص لنفسه كوناً شديد الغنى والتنوع.
