"الحسن الصريح في مائة مليح" كتاب سار فيه الشاعر "الصفوي" على هدى سابقيه ومعاصريه الذين عنوا بالتغزل بالمذكر نظماً وجمعاً وأكثروا، وذكر في مقدمته بعضهم، فمن الذين ذكرهم الثعالبي، وهو سابق له عصراً، وأشار إلى عدم إعجابه بصنيعه، ومنهم أيضاً بعض المتأخرين مثل الشريف دفترخوان وسعد الدين ابن المتصرف الشهير محيي الدين بن عربي وابن قرناص والأسعردي والشاب الظريف والمشد والذهبي والشواء، وتحدث عن إعجابه بهم في هذا المجال، ولكن على الرغم من ذلك لم يجد في أعمالهم الكمال الذي ينشده كثرة ومستوى، لذلك رأى أن يجمع من أشعاره وصف مائة غلام، فكان كتاب (الحسن الصريح في مائة مليح)، وجعله يتميز عن أمثاله بمعانيه البديعة المبتكرة، ولم يكتف بمقطوعة واحدة في كل غلام، وإنما خص كلاً منهم بمقطوعتين أو أكثر، تتألف كل منها من بيتين بعامة، ومع ذلك نجده يعترف بتقصيره وضآلة إحسانه بتواضع جم.
وفضلاً عن ذلك نجده بعد انتهائه من المائة يضيف إليها سبع مقطوعات في سبعة غلمان آخرين، وكأني به يريد أن يبرهن على قدرته، وأنه لم يصل إلى المائة لاهثاً، بل وصلها مستريحاً يستطيع المتابعة، وفي جعبته المزيد، ولكنه حقق الرقم الذي كان يبغي، وكسر الرقم القياسي ويكفيه هذا السبق.
وعلى الرغم من أن هذه المقطوعات في غرض التغزل، وفي موضوع خاص من موضوعاته، إلا أننا ينبغي إلا ننظر إليه بهذا المنظار الضيق فقط، وذلك لأننا لا نجد فيها بعامة تصريحاً أو فحشاً، وإنما نجد الصفدي قد ابتعد عن ذلك ابتعاداً كبيراً، لأنه صب جل همه على الناحية الفنية كاختراع معنى جديد أو تصنع بديع أو غير ذلك، مبتغياً أن يتفوق على سابقيه ومعاصريه في هذا الميدان عدداً وابتكاراً وتصنيفاً. وبالإضافة إلى ذلك نستطيع أن نرى في أشعار هذا الكتاب صورة للعصر المملوكي من النواحي الأدبية واللغوية والفنية والاجتماعية والعلمية والعسكرية والزراعية والصناعية والصحية وغيرها، كما نجد أيضاً صوراً لمآكل الناس في ذلك العصر ومشاربهم وملابسهم وحماماتهم وأعمالهم وأجناسهم وأديانهم، وتزينهم وعطورهم وجدهم ولهوهم وغير ذلك، الأمر الذي لا تخفى فوائده وأهميتها.
