لم تفارق الشارة إلى الوحي خطاب الغرب المعاصر، فمن فَهْم كانط للحماس بما هو شعور بالمطلق مروراً بتعيين هيدغر للشعر كلغة تمنح، إلى كلام ليوتار، في سياق بحثه عن الوجود الإنساني من دون أن يحيط بها، ظلت الحداثة تعيد كتابة نفسها كاشفة، وإن بصورة غير مكتملة، عن أن لغة السياسة الحديثة المتمحورة حول مفهوم السيادة المطلقة لا تستمر إلا من خلال حجب لغة الوحي والحؤول دون بروزها من جديد وسط حقلها اللغوي، في هذا الكتاب الذي هو الخامس في سلسلة دراسات، ينطلق البحث المدرج فيه من هذه الفكرة وهو، لذلك بالضبط، لا يهدف إلى نقد التداول حول علاقة الإسلام بالحداثة، بل إنه ينطلق من كون استمرار ترداد الكلام حول هذه العلاقة المترافق مع إصرار المثقف الحديث المحلي على تغييب فكر ما بعد الحداثة النقدي، يكشف أمراً بالغ الأهمية، وهو أن الدولة الغربية الجهازية تلجأ الآن، إضافة إلى استخدام ذاكرتها المعلوماتية الاستشراقية القديمة، إلى نشر نقاط بث خارجها تردد كلامها في حقل التداول الإسلامي، كي لا يصلها من هذا الحقل إلا أصداؤها فتمنع الاستماع داخل إطارها إلى كل ما يعيد، في حال أو قط أو أحيي، قابليات لدى المتلقين لالتقاط لغة "المنح" أو "الحماس" التي لا تبدو بنظر كانط أو هيدغر أو ليوتار بعيدة عن لغة الوحي.
