لا يخفى على أي أحد أن مكتبة التراث الإسلامي الشيعي قد حظيت بآثار لجمع من أولئك السلف الذين ما فتروا في الدفاع عن نصرة الدين الحنيف وهذه آثارهم الآن تزهو بما تركوه للأجيال اللاحقة من تكريس للمبادئ الحقة وتثبيت الأسس الغراء. وإن أهل بيت النبي عليه الصلاة والسلام لما كانوا أفضل المخلوقات وقدوة الأنام وكان الرشد في اتباعهم ولا يمكن اتباعهم الا بالعلم والإطلاع على حياتهم وسيرتهم، فلهذا اهتم علماء الإسلام من المتقدمين والمتأخرين بتأليف كتب من أطراف حياتهم وسيرتهم وأهدافهم وكيفية شهادتهم وما جرى عليهم من المصائب والمحن والآلام ليقتدي بهم شيعتهم في الدفاع عن حدود الإسلام، ومن هذه التأليفات التي تختص بذكر الخمسة آل العباء وما جرى عليهم من المصائب، هو الكتاب الذي بين يديك الموسوم بـ"رياض المصائب" الذي ألفه العلامة "محمد مهدي المسوسوى التنكابني". ولما كان هذا الكتاب من أجل الكتب المصنفة في هذا الموضوع ومن أحسن الكتب التي تعنى بذكر المصائب وتحليلاتها الدقيقة.
اهتمت مؤسسة إحياء الكتب الإسلامية بإخراجه في هذه الطبعة التي بين يدينا محققا وذلك حتى يتسنى للقراء الاضطلاع على مضمونه كاملا من غير تصحيف أو تحريف.
